Please join Curator Anna Miles in conversation with artists Areez Katki and Christopher Duncan.
Areez and Christopher are the authors of the two largest textile works included in Vanished Delft.
Areez Katki’s Ravel Scroll: Daybreak, a 5-metre-drop of hand-embroidered silk, hangs in the Ball Room. Christopher Duncan’s Hand woven Screen can be seen in the Drawing Room.
Areez has described himself as a practitioner of the applied arts with specific interest in textiles and apparel, creating pieces of knitwear and apparel that are locally crafted by hand. Christopher who specialises in hand weaving is the proprietor of TÜR Studio, a workplace, gallery and retail operation established at 486 Karangahape Road in 2014.
Areez and Christopher will talk about their works in the exhibition and what informs their textile practices.
